About Lumen
Lumen started as a newsletter among three friends comparing notes on lighting scenes and thermostat schedules. It's now a small, independent journal covering the intelligent home: not as a category of gadgets, but as a slow, ongoing renovation of how a house behaves.
We test the systems we write about, in our own homes, for months before publishing. We're skeptical of hype, careful with privacy claims, and mostly interested in whether a piece of technology actually makes a house quieter to live in.
